During my bachelor studies, I always wanted to experience studying abroad. It was only during my master’s degree that I gathered the courage to explore different options and apply to various institutions.
The experiences I gained during my stay in Bucharest from October 2025 to February 2026 had a profoundly positive impact on me. I had the great privilege of working with Professor Emil Vișenescu — a truly inspiring musician (clarinetist) and, above all, a genuine artist. His generosity and kindness in working with his students provided me with a powerful example of what teaching an instrument should look like.
In such an environment, I grew not only as a musician but, first and foremost, as a person. I opened myself to music in a way I had never experienced before, which gave me eagerness to be more present, authentic, and convincing in my performances.
I was immensely pleased to discover that there are many opportunities to organize concerts within the University — something I had greatly missed at home. Despite the language barrier (not many students in Romania are accustomed to communicating in English), I managed to connect with my colleagues and, within a short period of time, organize an entire recital dedicated to chamber works by Mozart and Prokofiev.
In addition, I appeared on stage several times as a soloist on different occasions, which gave me valuable opportunities to perform outside the practice room and to explore who I am as a stage performer.
I am deeply grateful, from the bottom of my heart, for the people I met during this semester and for the time and musical ideas we were able to share. This experience enriched me and challenged me at times, but it reminded me that we often achieve the greatest things in life outside our comfort zones.
I would sincerely encourage everyone to broaden their horizons in this way and to have faith throughout the process — it will undoubtedly return to you in abundance. This semester will remain an important foundation for my future artistic and pedagogical development.
